I've wanted to add wheels to the Pathfinder for a long time, mainly just to gain the backspacing clearance for my rear shocks (I messed a shock up with snow chains, not good). I've always liked the way the Raceline Beadlocks look. My only reservation is that beadlocks are not cheap, and this is a cheap vehicle, so I might go with the fake ones to gain the backspacing.

Got myself a JD2 Model 32 bender, built a custom stand for it, and converted it over to air over hydraulic controls. Cool!
I've been playing around on Cad quite a bit lately, and I believe it's time to start bending something to relieve some of the stress that comes with computer drafting. Out of some dozen projects I have on the drawing board, just for the pathfinder, I decided that I can do this one fairly easily, and for cheap! Nothing fancy here. The rack will be 40 inches wide by 72 inches long. It will be about 5 to 6 inches tall, have a wind break with a 60 degree angle wind deflector on the front, with the option to mount a 20" or 30" light bar. The main frame of the rack will be constructed from regular 1 inch emt electrical pipe. I may use pipe clamps to secure it to the roof. If those don't work, I will construct my own mounts out of flat bar, making bends with my compact harbor freight bender. I have made some 1:1 scale templates for notching my tubes. I'm no expert on tube frame design, so I'm hopeful my templates will make easy work out of making all my notches. Some of the materials and tools I will be using: -1" conduit bender from Home Depot with a 7" centerline radius -1" regular (not rigid) emt conduit -140 amp Lincoln mig welder with flux core (no gas) -Grinder with grinder wheel and cut-off wheel -Compact Harbor Freight Bender (for flat bar) -Black Automotive Enamel or wrinkle black spray paint |
